Resident Council

The Oak Care Centre Resident Council provides a voice for OCC residents in the work of making Vancouver Coastal Health and the management of Oak Care aware of and responsive to resident needs. The Council meets once a month and has a number of ad hoc committees that address specific issues of concern to residents like residents’ banking, infection control, housekeeping and food services, staffing, sharing care, emergency preparedness and rules for use of power mobility on site. The Council manages the Residents Canteen and advocates for the return of the Family rooms, overnight stay areas for family members of OCC residents, a popular initiative of Resident Council that was lost during the pandemic. Along with CARMA, the Residents Council also advocates for residents voices to be heard and for person-centred care and choice.
